Mass. Senate weighs facilities for heroin, OxyContin addicts

Well, better late than never—right? Congratulations to Massachusetts for being one of the few States to at least try to get their shit together when it comes to addiction. You listening Pennsylvania?

First off, elected officials in Boston finally get what Swallowed has been saying since day one, namely that… “This is an epidemic”.

Here is what Massachusetts is seeking to do right:

  1. Creating new treatment facilities
  2. Appointing a special commission to investigate and study the impact of the OxyContin and heroin epidemic
  3. Training addicts and their families on using Narcan (a nasal drug designed to immediately reverse the effects of an overdose)
  4. Issuing Narcan kits including two doses of the drug to addicts and their families
