May 31, 2008

Hauntingly-sad MSN Video, highlighting the final, desperate days of a young drug addict. May be unsuitable for younger viewers.

2 men charged with stealing Oxycontin

May 28, 2008

I just had to include this little gem from one of Swallowed’s favorite shit-rags, the Salt Lake Tribune. Looks like the SLT is trying to coin a phrase this time with the clever “Oxycontin Bandits” moniker…

Jason Bergreen of the SLT writes, “Two alleged Oxycontin bandits were charged in 3rd District Court on Thursday with first-degree felony aggravated robbery.”

Now, I don’t want to sound like I’m brushing off armed pharmacy robbery, because I’m not. This is a very serious crime. My beef is that the SLT can never seem to include any mention of the growing painkiller addiction epidemic in relation to these stories. They would have you believe these guys are no different than bank robbers.

If we don’t get this painkiller epidemic under control, these types of robberies may unfortunately become commonplace.

Pfizer Hires a New Top Lawyer

May 28, 2008

Amy Schulman
Amy Schulman, 47, who made a whopping $5.75 million last year at DLA Piper, has gone over to the Pfizer dark-side. The legal bills must be piling up over on 42nd Street. Anyone want to guess what Ms. Schulman will be pulling down at Pfizer?

Ask yourself, how much would you be expecting to be sued exactly, to justify hiring a high-seven-figure lawyer?!? I’m guessing quite-a-bit… If you’re the curious type, why not go ahead and ask: amy.schulman@dlapiper.com.

Ever wonder why your prescriptions cost so much?
