I just had to include this little gem from one of Swallowed’s favorite shit-rags, the Salt Lake Tribune. Looks like the SLT is trying to coin a phrase this time with the clever “Oxycontin Bandits” moniker…
Jason Bergreen of the SLT writes, “Two alleged Oxycontin bandits were charged in 3rd District Court on Thursday with first-degree felony aggravated robbery.”
Now, I don’t want to sound like I’m brushing off armed pharmacy robbery, because I’m not. This is a very serious crime. My beef is that the SLT can never seem to include any mention of the growing painkiller addiction epidemic in relation to these stories. They would have you believe these guys are no different than bank robbers.
If we don’t get this painkiller epidemic under control, these types of robberies may unfortunately become commonplace.
